Artist Statement

Growing up in a European country known for its floral folk art, I was always surrounded by intricate patterns that have deeply influenced my work today. Nature and floral motifs continue to inspire me, often blending colour and pattern to reflect the beauty of the world around me. Through my art, I aim to invite viewers to engage with the material in a new way—encouraging them to explore how light interacts with glass, reflecting, bending, and transforming, creating visual illusions that shift with perspective.

I am currently a third-year Glass and Ceramics student at the University of Sunderland, where I am continuously exploring the endless possibilities of glass. My work spans lampworking, hot glass, and occasionally cast glass and engraving. From the start, I’ve been captivated by the way glass interacts with light, creating stunning effects that are both mesmerizing and dynamic.

Lampworking is my preferred technique because it allows me to have precise control over the glass, which is essential when creating delicate, intricate pieces. I also enjoy incorporating hot glass and cast glass into my practice, which adds additional layers of texture and depth, enriching the final outcome. I am constantly experimenting with new techniques, pushing my creativity to discover fresh ways to express my love for texture, form, nature, and the transformative effects of light.

My practice is an ongoing journey of discovery, where each project is an opportunity to explore new methods and approaches. I’m always searching for ways to bring my ideas to life in innovative ways while staying connected to my roots and the beauty of the world around me. The process of making is as much about personal growth and exploration as it is about the final piece, and I find endless joy in the journey itself.
